Aidan Shea continued his scoring streak with a 28 point performance. Danny Goldberger and Luke DiLillo provided the ball control and outside shooting, while Jack Cramer and Oliver Ljuboja together delivered an unstoppable inside presence. Fierce Travel had an amazing weekend of action. 5th grade topped Norwalk Youth 55-51 with the help of a clutch late game three pointer from Krish Dodani. Jayden Wang was all over the court and Brady Morison really got it going in the second half of play. It was a team win with contributions from everyone. Alex Perman and Mason Neely both drained three pointers. 6th grade fell just short to the Westport Wolves in overtime. 7th grade pulled out two thrilling victories in tough away gym environments. On Saturday they found themselves in an early 16-2 hole to New Canaan, and climbed all the way back to win the game by a single point in the final second. Aidan Shea had the game winner with 0.9 seconds left on the clock and the boys went wild. Danny Goldberger was "unconscious" from long range draining 4 three pointers. Then on Sunday in a 65-61 win over Greenwich it was Luke DiLillo's smothering defense that led the way, with Jack Cramer and Oliver Ljuboja dominating the inside play. 8th grade extended their win streak to 4 games over the weekend. It started with a 64-37 blowout over Wakeman-Southport in which Tate Mahoney was lights out with 21 points. Then they kept their composure for an intense victory over Hamden -- it was a frantic crowd. Gerald Jacobs rose to the occasion and took over the second half with scoring, steals and crowd silencing blocked shots. Devin Julious dominated the final game of the weekend with steals that he took to the house for easy layups. Gabe Bernard and Emmett Derby made big time winning plays in each and every game. This weekend in Fierce Travel... 8th grade outlasted New Canaan today by a final of 46-44. Tate Mahoney was aggressive from the opening tip, finishing with 15 points including the go-ahead basket with 20 ticks left on the clock. Tate drove to the rim, missed, but followed up his shot with an offensive rebound put back to give Fierce a two point lead. Fierce then locked down defensively and Gerald Jacobs secured the defensive rebound to close out the game as time expired. Devin Julious was making clutch "rainbow" three pointers throughout the second half. Jake Medor drained a long ball of his own from the corner just before the end of the third quarter, and that may have been the difference in the game. 5th grade took care of Westport Pal 51-41. Luca Scalera was buzzing around everywhere on his way to a game high 23 points. He was making all of his outside shots, floaters and lay-ups, while also finding open teammates for shots of their own. Krish Dodani scored 13 points, with Brady Morison contributing 6 points and 10 rebounds as is now routine for the big guy. 6th grade defeated Kings Kids of Bridgeport but then fell short to Guilford. Caden Quigley was the star of the Saturday game and Devin Brenner shined on Sunday. Zach Magner put together two strong performances on the weekend. 7th grade beat Trumbull. Aidan Shea was right at his season scoring average with 13 points. Justin Toothaker drained 2 three pointers. Strong overall showing by all teams!
